Bowl Week Post 1

I am sorry that it has taken me this long to give some news about my take on the bowls but I just got back home last night.

Currently I am watching UCF and Miss St. play. My pick is UCF here but my prediction of Kevin Smith breaking the single season rushing record doesn't seem like it is going to come true.

Overall, this year has been difficult in predicting who is going to win but its even worse when it comes to the bowl games. Last year I was a little under 75% accuracy which is a respectable percent but this year it seems that I'll be right near 50%.

As of now here is where I stand:

  • Navy and BYU
  • Memphis and Florida Atlantic
  • Southern Miss and Cinci
  • Nevada and New Mexico
  • UCLA and BYU (This one made me really nervous)
  • Boise State and ECU
  • Purdue and Central Michigan
  • Arizona State and Texas
  • Boston College and Michigan State
  • TCU and Houston
  • Maryland and Oregon State
  • UConn and Wake Forest
I know it looks bad but I find that I do way better with the higher profile teams (Last year I got 4 out of 5 BCS games).

I want everyone here to if you play ESPN's College Bowl Mania like I do to feel free to tell me your score. At the end I'll post that person's score and if I've got enough people then I might have a prize.

Right now I have: 96 points & 65.95%

Because I now plan on having an entry every morning about that day's games I'll give you my pick for the remaining game today.

I believe that Penn State will beat Texas A&M tonight. And, I'll tell you why:

While some teams might have trouble with milestones Joe Paterno certainly is one of them. The Nittany Lions will be ready to play at 100%. The Aggies have had a stagnant and predictable offense all year and a good Penn State defense should have no trouble slowing them down. The biggest reason Penn State will win this game will be because of the high score. Penn State will win this game if the score goes over 30 because since 2001 PSU has won a considerable amount more game when scoring over 30 points. Penn State's only weakness is the inability to win close games with being just below .500 but I believe that the Nittany Lion's defense is good enough to get the job done.

Side Note - The Patriots will be the Giants tonight. Come on, you can't ever pick against the Patriots in a game. They're just too good.

First Entry

I'm still currently setting up my blog, but I'm looking forward to posting my picks for the upcoming bowl games.
